John Reiners

John Reiners is a co-owner of Leavitt Heartland Insurance Services, where he specializes in commercial property and casualty insurance as well as group employee benefits, including self-funded and captive health plans.

Before joining Leavitt Group in 2020, John spent 25 years in collegiate coaching. He served as head football coach at Black Hills State University from 2012 to 2020, earning Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC) Football Coach of the Year honors in 2016. During that time, he also represented the RMAC on the NCAA Division II Coaches Connection Advisory Committee. Prior to his tenure at Black Hills State, John was the head track and field coach and assistant football coach at his alma mater, Chadron State College.

John’s customer service philosophy reflects the lessons he learned recruiting student-athletes: lasting relationships must be built on honesty, integrity, and communication. His focus is always on how to best serve clients, rather than looking for ways clients can serve him.

Raised on a farm in Indianola, Nebraska, John values hard work and giving back. Today, he remains active in his community through volunteer service with several civic organizations. He and his wife, Jen, have four children and two grandchildren. Together, they enjoy family time, attending their kids’ and grandkids’ activities, and exploring the outdoors of the Black Hills.
